Ingredients

Every ingredient is researched and tested for all of Sky Feather Farm’s products. The quality and purity of each product is of utmost consideration and importance. No animal by-products
are used in any of the soap, salves or lotion recipes.

Oils, Butters, Beeswax

The chemical reactions of making cold process soaps is fascinating to me. I’ve always been a bit of a chemistry nerd, so I love coming up with my own recipes! I spend a lot of time quality sourcing all the oils and butters I use to make a beautiful bar of soap that softly lathers people’s skin. The oils and butters I chose are often organic, extra virgin, cold processed, 100% pure, and non-GMO. I do not use palm or canola oils in any of my soap recipes.

Herb Infused Oils

Spices, Powders,
Coffee Grounds, & Nuts

Spices, like Turmeric and Cinnamon, and products, like Cocoa powder, Coffee and Aronia Berries, are wonderful ways to add color to soaps. They are 100% natural in their origin. These additives often make a bar of soap look and smell good enough to eat.

Pure Essential Oils

Purity is what I try and achieve with essential oils. With experience using essential oils over decades, I have a nose for quality. 100% pure essential oils will often fade during the month long curing process of my soaps, but I try for a subtle sweet, spicy or earthy fragrance in my bars of soap. No matter what, I will not resort to using synthetic fragrances in any of my products.

Aromatherapy

Fresh and Dried
Herbs and Flowers

With decades of growing, wild crafting and purchasing dried and fresh herbs, I know how to seek out the best leaf, root, berry and flower in order to make superior, quality products for each of my tincture and oil infusions. Most of the ingredients are organic, sustainably grown or responsibly wild-crafted.

Dried Flowers

Clays

Being a plasterer as my other passion, I’ve worked with a lot of different natural clays. I’m excited to use small amounts of clays in the soaps I make. Clay helps to color soap since I don’t use any artificial colorants or even natural micas. My soaps are therefore more earthy in color and texture.

Pure Grain Alcohol

190 Proof Grain Alcohol is used for my herbal tincturing, diluted with filtered water, with an alcohol content of 40% to 65%, depending on each herb tinctured. The single tincture is then combined into one of Mama's Medicinals formulas and the alcohol % is calculated accordingly and reflected on each label. If necessary, the alcohol can mostly be steamed off by diluting the correct dosage in a cup of boiling water and cooled before drinking.
